Engineering Designer - Technology Systems

We are currently looking for an Engineering Designer to join our growing company. The Engineering Designer reports directly to the Senior Manager in our Angus Connect Division, alongside industry recognized peers with great experience, on some of the most exciting projects in Canada.

The Angus Connect team helps our clients define their Technology goals and designs the systems that help them change the way their business operates, by finding operational efficiencies, improving occupant experiences, reducing energy consumption, and enhancing financial performance. With the vast growth in connected devices, from building systems, mobile applications and wearables to smart office applications, the opportunities for automation and efficiency are endless. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly for clients to provide them with innovative solutions related to their Information, Communications and Automation Technology (ICAT) needs.

Angus Connect is growing and is looking for a high energy, enthusiastic, proactive and determined contributor to join them in their expansion.

Responsibilities include:  

  • Prepares drawings, designs, and specifications for technology systems projects
  • Works closely with Project Managers to understand project objectives and design goals and assess design constructability; this may occasionally require on-site client meetings
  • On review of the project goals, options and design, updates project specifications with support and guidance from more senior engineers
  • Supports design coordination with other disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, and architectural
  • Prioritizes and manages work to delivers all assigned tasks on a timely basis, meeting project deadlines
  • Supports the advancement of design best practices within the firm, including incorporating industry standards into design workflows
  • Assists in developing standards and reports with support and guidance from more senior engineers
  • Effectively applies tools and methodologies used for product and service delivery (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Angus Connect Drawing Standards, etc.)
  • Manages own time effectively and completes timesheets and expenses
  • Participates in on-site visits during the construction administration phase
  • Demonstrates an ability to work independently on assigned projects
  • Works under the supervision of a more senior engineer in solving problems

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Passionate about the application of digital technology in complex projects in the built environment
  • University Degree in Engineering
  • 1-2 years engineering consulting experience an asset
  • Growing knowledge base in BICSI, EIA/TIA and CSA Standards
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Forward thinking, problem solver and contributor with innovative ideas
  • Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base
  • Ability to prioritize work, and ensure quality through accuracy and timeliness
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
