Commissioning Specialist

HH Angus also works with a number of mission critical and healthcare clients to provide a portfolio of commissioning (Cx) services, from compliance consulting to leading the on-site testing; this includes retro-commissioning projects, re-commissioning projects, and new construction commissioning projects. Though primarily focused on the mechanical and electrical disciplines, HH Angus also offers commissioning compliance services, including management of Cx in other disciplines such as architectural envelope commissioning and commissioning of specialty systems, eg. IMIT technologies.

The Commissioning Specialist reports to the Division Director, Technology, and will be a key role for maintaining our general internal Cx standards, in addition to client-facing functions to represent HH Angus’ Commissioning services on construction projects, from small scale through to large complex facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform the role of commissioning resource for projects large and small
  • Review design drawings, develop commissioning procedures, edit plans and schedules
  • Provide excellent project management and Commissioning services
  • Prepare documents and reports for assignment
  • Communicate with clients for design and schedule requirements, while developing scalable systems to create efficient processing of reporting data
  • Prepare and maintain commissioning records of site observations, pre-functional checklists and functional testing
  • Attend job sites to verify the installation meets design intent, collect crucial information, and report results
  • Communicate with the contractor to coordinate functional testing
  • Work with the engineers and architects to survey sites and verify condition of equipment
  • Be prepared to provide diagnostic support on different projects and troubleshooting where needed
  • Manage your time on the project to meet the schedule and scope of the project

Who you are:

  • Minimum 2 years of Commissioning experience
  • Graduate of a technical college or university program
  • Good reporting and onsite experience
  • Fundamental working knowledge of HVAC or electrical systems
  • Good at working under pressure, staying organized, and maintaining focus
  • Excellent at meeting project schedules and time deliverables
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards, LEED, and ASHRAE
  • Advanced database development knowledge for effectively collecting and reporting information
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and organizational ability
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Must work well under pressure with multiple demands and projects
  • Must be able to prioritize objectives in order to meet project schedules
  • Experience in developing and delivering programs and data collection systems
